Idea Time


We need ideas!  We're gearing up for next quarter and need new Tech Tag activity ideas.  We're looking for anything technology related that you think would be beneficial for OU Libraries staff.  Just post your ideas as a comment under this post.  We'd like to have them in them by 3/3/11.

  1. So I've just been through the first 10 tasks, nice work Derek. One note: very few staff have Acrobat Pro on their machine, but it certainly is available to all on the public machines.

    As for ideas, here are just a few suggestions:
    - How to download and install an application(e.g. PDFCreator)
    - How to take a document and 'print' it to a PDF using PDFCreator
    - How to add another network printer to your PC (Talk to Tian about how to do this)
    - How to print to another printer or change the default printer

  2. At the 2/17/11 Library Council meeting, we kicked around these ideas so far:

    --how to send RSS feeds to Outlook
    --wiki stuff (exactly what, we are not sure yet)
    --library's new smart phone app (to help people use it even if we don't all have smart phones)
    --google search tricks

  4. Also this sounds so simple but I cannot figure out how to change some of my toolbar settings. Also browser windows -- sometimes I accidentally hit the wrong key and change the way the browser displays and then cannot get it to go back -- I end up closing the browser down but I know I would not have to do that if I just knew what to do.
